Board Member
I am Kyla Dawson. Over the last ten years I have worked with both providers and patients in the areas of Medicare/Medicaid, healthcare reform, and employer group health plans in the areas of training, quality, sales, scheduling and customer service as a licensed life and health producer in the state of Texas. Day-to-day business operations require me to interpret insurance benefits and contracts, analyze reports, strategize with key stakeholders, and ensure superior client satisfaction. My fervor for financial education and healthcare literacy drives me to forge authentic connections with clients to overcome their challenges.
My experiences in the nonprofit sector have allowed me to help build communities by working with youth mentorship and college prep programs. Projects like Street Library, where young residents of public housing communities are encouraged to patronize public libraries and understand the laws that govern our land, keep me connected to local communities on a grassroots level.
As a member of the board of Khams House, I am delighted to champion the well-being of families facing the challenges of cancer and disease. I hold a degree in business management, am a mother of one and volunteer with several local community organizations. I enjoy singing, art, and design. I find that self-expression through the arts is an invaluable coping skill for people of any age. In my free time I enjoy quality time with family and time spent in the great outdoors.
